Meaningful Lifestyles
Activities and hobbies
It is incredibly important to us that residents continue to enjoy as full a life as possible. Activities of all sorts are central to this and we strive to provide our residents with a variety of activities, hobbies and outings. It is vital that when residents start the day they are looking forward to events and activities that may be planned that day. Events and activities are an important social element around the home enable residents to develop and maintain their friendships.
Our homes provide a balance of in-house activities and invite external visitors to keep residents busy. Our activities range from sing-a-longs to exercise classes, quizzes, movie evenings, gardening sessions, arts and crafts, games nights as well as a variety of outings. Residents are encouraged to join in to the extent of their interests and capabilities.
Please see our News Blog page for photographs and reports of the recent activities at Tilsley House and Earlfield Lodge.

Covid restrictions notwithstanding, we have a number of external providers who visit us regularly to promote activities in small and collective groups and for individuals such as artists, relaxation therapists and music and movement therapists. We have excellent feedback from residents and relatives when we host activities and open days and aim to incorporate all wishes into our programme as much as possible.
We have also been taking residents out in small groups to local cafes for cream teas - our residents thoroughly enjoy trips out and are offered the choice to go and asked where they would like to go. Furthermore, we encourage as many in-house activities as possible which are centred around the garden, our large lounge spaces and the kitchen. We ensure that we have a number of activities going on regularly throughout the day in order to stimulate residents and to encourage as much interaction as possible.
Many of our residents receive treatments on a regular basis such as hairdressing, chiropody and beauty therapy including massages. These are services regularly offered to residents and incur a small extra charge. We also consult other providers as preferences arise.
We believe that it is important to encourage variety and choice within our activities programme to make them as rewarding as possible for each individual. We liaise with local schools and frequently have visitors come in. A few of our residents attend local churches and groups thus mixing with the local community. If you would like to get involved with activities and events at Tilsley House or Earlfield Lodge, please see the Volunteers information on our Careers page.
